Lauren Evans

My interest in art began in Rochester, New York. I graduated form Mohawk Valley Community College with a degree in Advertising, Design and Production and then from Kent State University with a BFA in painting and weaving.
I moved to the North Country in 1974. After many years of exhibiting and doing local craft shows, I obtained my Masters in Education from Potsdam College. I taught classes in various crafts at the Arts and Crafts Center on Ft. Drum before I began teaching at Indian River Central School. There, I taught elementary art, then moved to the high school  where I conducted studio classes in jewelry, sculpture and ceramics.

While I enjoy working in various  media, my most recent work has been in ceramics, where I have been making unusual flower vase forms and a porcelain jewelry line, wherein natural themes predominate.

I  have been in exhibits and won awards at Ball State University, Nazareth College, Potsdam College and North Country Artist’s exhibit in Sackett’s Harbor and at the Handweaving Museum in Clayton, NY.lauren1 lauren2 lauren3
